Based on the active ingredient quinoclamine Mogeton works by inhibiting the moss’
ability to photosynthesise. To achieve the maximum effect from Mogeton, treatment
should take into account the light, temperature and humidity.
As Mogeton acts on the photosynthetic process, the more active the moss is, and the
longer the photoperiod is, the more effective Mogeton will be. The same also applies
to temperature, the warmer it is the more active the moss will be. Humidity is also
vital due to the reliance of moss on damp conditions to thrive. So, when the moss is
flourishing the uptake and response to Mogeton is going to be at its greatest.
In addition, Mogeton is formulated to penetrate deep into the moss cushion, thus
treating the whole plant, not just the exposed parts. Following treatment with
Mogeton the moss turns brown and dies. It can then be removed by scarifying.
